Evie Walks Mount Wellington
Lily & Dot is proud to partner with VIP customer and former Hobart girl Eve Korytkowski to raise funds for the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, as Eve walks from Wrest Point Sandy Bay to the top of kunanyi/Mt Wellington on 15 November 2020.
Your tax-deductible donation will deliver you a special Lily & Dot gift box, reflecting Eve's support for Tasmanian small business and local makers.
Born in Battery Point and a University of Tasmania graduate, Eve grew up in Tasmania with her parents who had migrated from Europe. Eve's mum is an academic and her dad a returned soldier — a Rat of Tobruk, of whom she is very proud.
"Having worked within the Tourism Industry in Tasmania, the affiliation with Port Arthur was ongoing, promoting this historic destination with the Port Arthur Tourism Authority on an international marketing platform," said Eve.
"On 28 April 1996, I was informed by family that a cousin had lost their life at Port Arthur on that day.
"As Tasmanians we rallied together, but the impact was tough and affected families like ours for years to come.
"The positive effect was to not give up ~ this was an opportunity to not succumb to the outcome violence, bullying or the negative impact of the loss of life.
The difference was to create a positive attitude and broad awareness of how we can generate kindness in the light of adversity.
"The reason for this fundraiser is to achieve the goal of $21K — a thousand dollars per kilometre (being the distance of this half marathon) for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation to contribute to their initiatives: Buddy Bags, Early Years Trauma Consultancy Service, Children Ahead and Cubby House.
"It is also a way to continue generating awareness of the incredible work the Alannah and Madeline Foundation do by walking from Wrest Point in Sandy Bay to the top of Mount Wellington.
"Through exceeding oneself for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation Team who a very dear to me indicates that nothing is impossible to create a positive outcome.
"If I could walk to the moon and back for this Team — I would — to make a difference.
"In addition, I am looking to create #cheersquadeve via this page, Instagram and Facebook to keep this Hobart girl training and walking up to the pinnacle of Mount Wellington on 15 November 2020.
"I've created a fundraising page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work that The Alannah & Madeline Foundation do, Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button — also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.
"Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!"
